A pro-style quarterback out of Florida has chosen to play at Indiana over offers from Florida State and Tennessee.

Michael Penix, a three-star quarterback out of Tampa, Florida, gave his commitment to the Hoosiers on Wednesday, despite offers from in-state programs Florida State, Florida Atlantic, and USF. He also had offers from Tennessee, Arizona, Rutgers and Oregon.

While this may not be a flashy addition for Indiana, nabbing a recruit from the Seminoles and Volunteers is no small feat.

Penix is ranked as the No. 20 pro-style quarterback in the 2018 class and is ranked as the No. 88 player out of Florida. Nationally, Penix sits just outside the top 500, according to 247Sports.

Indiana has the one of the best recruiting classes it’s had in years, ranking 10th in the B1G and 41st overall as of Wednesday afternoon. Penix is now the second-best recruit coming in to Bloomington.
