ESPN’s College GameDay crew kicked off the Week 5 Saturday slate with a broadcast from Durham, North Carolina. It’s the first-ever appearance to Duke (for the football version of GameDay) as the Blue Devils prepare to host Notre Dame in a top-20 matchup.

As for the B1G slate, the crew picked the primetime showdown in Iowa City between the Hawkeyes and Michigan State. Desmond Howard made a relatively surprising pick while the rest of the crew went with chalk.

Desmond Howard: Michigan State. “They lost to Maryland but they showed some fight, I do believe Michigan State will beat Iowa today. I got Sparty.”

Pat McAfee:  Iowa. “For me, Iowa, they got absolutely the doors blown off against Penn State. At home, I think they bounce back. Give me Iowa for a big-time Big Ten win.”

Ken Jeong: Iowa. “I agree, I think they still have enough left in the tank to get by the Spartans. Iowa.”

Lee Corso: Iowa. “Iowa scores 20 and wins!”

Kirk Herbstreit: Iowa. “I think (Iowa’s) defense stops Michigan State. It’s tragic what’s going on on and off the field. Iowa takes care of business with defense.”

Saturday’s game is set for 7:30 pm ET on NBC with a simulcast available on Peacock.
