According to FootballScoop.com, Illinois head coach Lovie Smith has let go offensive coordinator Garrick McGee and defensive backs coach Paul Williams.

If this is indeed true, Smith lets go of McGee after the offense severely underperformed.

At the end of the 2017 season, the Fighting Illini offense was ranked No. 126 (out of 129 teams), averaging 280.4 yards per game.

Now, the departure of Williams comes as a surprise as the Illinois secondary allowed only 199.9 yards, which was good for No. 33 in the nation.
