According to Penn State beat writer Donnie Collins, the team announced that linebacker Daiquan Kelly was dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules.

Kelly, a former four-star recruit, was set to begin his freshman season with the Nittany Lions. He played receiver, safety and linebacker at Union City High School and was expected to take on a hybrid role with Bob Shoop’s unit.

Penn State’s defense ranked seventh in the country last season in points allowed and will return the likes of preseason All-American Anthony Zettel and Austin Johnson.
