Jim Harbaugh uses interesting analogy to compare JJ McCarthy, Caleb Williams
By Ethan Stone
Published:
Jim Harbaugh told reporters Monday that JJ McCarthy was the best QB he watched so far.
There’s one that comes close though: USC’s Caleb Williams. Harbaugh spoke on the pair of QBs during Monday’s weekly press conference.
While doing so, Harbaugh mentioned that it’s tough to compare the 2 signal callers. Comparing the 2 is like “comparing Kobe and Michael (Jordan), Manning and Brady… They’re both really good.”
You can hear his full statement below:
Jim Harbaugh said Saturday that JJ McCarthy was the best QB in the country – that he had watched.
He watched Caleb Williams on the flight home, and said “He’s really good too.” Harbaugh said it’s like comparing Kobe and MJ, Manning and Brady. “They’re both really good.” pic.twitter.com/hxHijQ4Npl

A better comparison with that analogy may have been LeBron vs. MJ, but you get Harbaugh’s point. They’re both really good collegiate quarterbacks and 2 of the top talents in the country on some of the better teams in the country.
That shows in McCarthy’s completion percentage thus far in 2023. He sits 4th in the country in this aspect and is sitting at just over 1,200 passing yards with 11 touchdown and 3 interceptions. And that’s as part of an offense with 2 of the top running backs in the country.
