Jim Harbaugh loved getting to watch Aidan Hutchinson up close and personal during the defender’s career at Michigan. After Hutchinson’s time in Ann Arbor, the head coach said his star should be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
In the end, Hutchinson would be passed over by the Jacksonville Jaguars as the franchise went with Travon Walker. It worked out alright for Hutchinson as he was selected No. 2 overall by the hometown Detroit Lions.
At his Monday press conference, Harbaugh said Hutchinson’s early production shows he was right about the star defensive end deserving to be the No. 1 overall pick. Harbaugh specifically referenced an insane one-handed interception from Sunday’s action.
“I did comment on Aidan Hutchinson, I said that I thought he should have been the No. 1 overall pick. I think I was right on that one, did you see his interception (yesterday) on the screen pass? So proud of him and the amazing job he’s doing,” praised Harbaugh. “…Darn exciting time to be a football fan in Michigan.”
