Michael Penix Jr. on Big Ten appreciating Oregon-UW additions: ‘They better be ready’

Michael Penix Jr. is riding high Saturday night after Washington’s dramatic performance and game-winning touchdown pass in a win over Oregon. Playing under head coach Kalen DeBoer, Penix and the Huskies are now 6-0 with a top-10 win under their belt.
During Saturday’s win, Penix finished 22-for-37 throwing the ball with 302 yards, 4 touchdowns and an interception. He is also 2-0 against the Ducks in a rivalry with intense energy between DeBoer and Oregon head coach Dan Lanning.
After the game, Penix was briefly asked about the upcoming move to the Big Ten move for both programs. The QB and former Indiana star noted the Big Ten would appreciate this rivalry, he also says the league better be ready.
“They appreciate it. At the same time, they better be ready,” noted Penix.
For what it’s worth, the Big Ten has no shortage of intense rivalries whether it’s Ohio State-Michigan, Michigan-Michigan State or Iowa-Minnesota. However, it’s hard to dispute Penix’s feelings considering the dramatic nature of Oregon vs. Washington in back-to-back seasons.
As for Penix, he personally has played in the Big Ten at Indiana, but he will also be off to the NFL after this season. Either way, DeBoer has the Huskies on an upward trajectory ahead of the move, and Penix has been a major piece of the turnaround.
