James Franklin recently updated the status of one of his key offensive linemen.
JB Nelson was carted off against Northwestern three weeks ago and has not played since. However, the redshirt junior guard was spotted practicing with the team on Wednesday during the open viewing portion of practice.
At a presser after practice Wednesday, Franklin was asked if Nelson will be ready to go against Ohio State.
“Yeah, we’ll see,” explained the coach. “He’s missed a little bit of time, so, obviously kinda getting him back in the mix and greased up and ready to go. Good thing is, Vega (Olaivavega Ioane) has played well.”

It makes sense that the coach wouldn’t want to mess up a good thing. The Nittany Lions have had one of the best lines in the nation, with the unit allowing just 4 sacks all season. The line has also paved the way for the Nittany Lions to have the No. 16 rushing offense in the nation.
Franklin’s squad will face its toughest test of the year this weekend when they travel to Columbus.
