Nebraska suffers decommitment from 2024 safety recruit

Saturday was a good day for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, as they knocked off Northwestern, 17-9. With the win, the Cornhuskers moved to 4-3 on the season and now have a very solid chance of making a bowl game.

While the play was good on the field, it wasn’t all good news this weekend as the Cornhuskers lost a talented 2024 safety.

Safety Callen Barta announced on social media that he would be decommitting from Nebraska and instead would be committing to K-State.

Barta is a 3-star safety from Topeka, Kansas, and plays his high school football at Seaman High School. He had been committed since June, after attending a team camp in Lincoln.

However, K-State remained interested in the safety, and the Wildcats offered him on Monday. Barta attended the K-State game against TCU on Saturday, and then ultimately decided on Sunday to change his mind and announce his commitment to the Wildcats.

The 2024 Nebraska class is still a big one, as the Cornhuskers still have 26 players committed in the class. The class is a solid one for new coach Matt Rhule, as it is ranked 26th in the country and 7th in the B1G next year.
