Brady Quinn is skeptical of the nature of the Michigan sign-stealing scandal.
The former quarterback and current college football analyst for FOX Sports believes there is something fishy about the scandal.
“The whole thing seems really fishy,” Quinn said on FOX Sports Radio on Wednesday. “Every little piece of it.”
Quinn believes that other teams have been doing the same thing as Michigan for years, just on a different level.
“Other teams do this, they just haven’t been caught,” Quinn said. “Sign stealing has gone on forever. You want me to give you the simple solution in all this? Coach the quarterback. Do exactly what they do in the NFL. There you have it. You speak into the helmet and tell the quarterback what the play is.”
Quinn also thinks that someone with a background like Connor Stalions wouldn’t have been so sloppy with his execution, giving him the idea that there is something more to the investigation.
“There’s other schools and teams that do this,” Quinn said. “Clearly they may just be better at getting away with it, but it feels like, with a guy with a background like Connor Stalions has as a very reputable decoder, that he wouldn’t have been so sloppy with how he did this. He’s got his name in buying some of these tickets to opposing schools.”
Quinn also believes that the coaches who are so quick to say that sign-stealing doesn’t go on in college football are lying.
“A lot of coaches that I’ve talked to that want to talk about it or make any public accusations for a reason,” Quinn said. “Anyone who’s out there that says, ‘Oh this doesn’t go on it’s just Michigan,’ they’re lying to you or they’re ignorant to you about how the game of football is today. At least at the college level.”
