Greg McElroy believes Ohio State’s current resume is second to only 1 in college football right now.
During a recent edition of the Always College Football show, the ESPN analyst ranked Florida State at the top, followed by Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Georgia for the best resumes.
Undefeated No. 3 Ohio State is coming off a 20-12 victory against Penn State. McElroy mentions that as well as the victory at Notre Dame as the best wins for the Buckeyes.
“They have 2 great wins. In Week 4 going on the road to 6-2 Notre Dame and winning the game 17-14. Then Week 8 most recently against 6-1 current ranked No. 10 Penn State,” McElroy said. “Of course, that was a more convincing score than the final score might indicate. I thought it was a dominant performance in every stretch of the imagination.”
McElroy also points out that victories vs. Maryland and Western Kentucky are quality examples.
“So 2 great wins for Ohio State but they also have 2 good wins at their disposal as well. 5-2 Maryland. Great second-half performance to beat them convincingly by 20 points,” McElroy said. “They also beat 4-3 Western Kentucky.”
McElroy mentions that Ohio State will have some other opportunities to pad its resume down the stretch.
“They also have a couple of notables in at the road on Wisconsin this week and at Rutgers, and of course at Michigan on the final week of the regular season,” McElroy said.
Coming out of Week 8, Ohio State is given the third-best national championship odds in the country, trailing only Michigan and defending champion Georgia. Fans can take part in those odds by using the unique Ohio sports betting promo code.
