Cade Stover is a total-package tight end and a major piece of Ohio State’s dynamic offense this season. After an impressive first half of the season, Stover was added to the watchlist for a premier award entering Week 9.

That would be the Biletnikoff Award, annually given to the outstanding receiver in college football. The award is traditionally dominated by wide receivers, it is not limited to any position.

According to Ohio State’s Jerry Emig, Staver is third nationally among TEs for receptions and receiving yardage.

So far this season, Stover is second on the Buckeyes with his 27 catches for 429 receiving yards, trailing only Marvin Harrison Jr. for the team lead. Stover’s 3 touchdown catches are also tied for second with Emeka Egbuka.

Already, Stover has established a new career-high mark with 429 receiving yards and has been very efficient with 15.9 yards per catch. He has at least 4 catches in 5 games this season, including 4 catches for 70 yards against Penn State.

In reality, it’s unlikely Stover maintains his pace long enough to seriously compete for the Biletnikoff, but there’s no denying his strong work this season. He’s also a total package as a player willing to put his hand in the ground and carve out running lanes as a blocker.
