Iowa primed for historic over/under in Wrigley Field matchup with Northwestern

Iowa has a tendency to be involved in games with particularly low point totals. One game removed from a 30.5-point over/under against Nebraska (that safely hit the under with 22 total points), the Iowa vs. Northwestern matchup in Wrigley Field opened at 29.5 points for Week 10.
If that 29.5-point total sounds significantly low, it is because it is. According to Ben Stevens with Sports Grid, that 29.5-point over/under would be the lowest ever for an FBS game.
Iowa’s positioning in historically low point totals is also significant. Four times in Iowa’s last 12 games, the point total has been a historic low. That includes a pair of 31.5-point totals and another at 30.5.
For anyone looking for betting advice in Week 10, the previous 3 games all hit on the under. Fans can get in on this week’s action by heading to BetMGM.
The Iowa-Northwestern total opens at O/U 29.5 pts.
This would be the lowest FBS total EVER.
This is also the 4th time in Iowa’s last 12 games w/ a historic low total:
• 10/21 vs MIN, O/U 30.5
• 12/32/22 vs UK, O/U 31.5
• 11/19/22 vs MIN, O/U 31.5All 3 games went Under. https://t.co/uGk4K7A9hw

Iowa’s last two games have each gone under the 29.5-point mark. That includes a 15-6 win over Wisconsin and the 12-10 loss to Minnesota.
For some added context, this week’s game will be played at Wrigley Field, home of MLB’s Chicago Cubs. The Cubs played in one game this season that included 29 total runs during an Aug. 1 win over the Cincinnati Reds.
