Charles Woodson reacts to Michigan scandal: ‘When you’re at the top, they coming for you’

Charles Woodson is the latest Michigan alum to defend the program in the midst of the investigation into the program allegedly conducting in-person scouting and sign-stealing tactics.
The Heisman Trophy winner shared his thoughts on the situation during an appearance on The Pivot podcast.
Woodson began by pledging his loyalty to the Wolverines.
“Man, I’m Michigan through and through. You know that. I listen to it and Michigan has a really good team. Make no mistake about it,” Woodson said. “I think we still have something to prove because our schedule isn’t the toughest. So we’ve still got some things to prove. But we’ve got a good team.”
Woodson believes Michigan’s undefeated record and national title chances are making the program a target.
“I just look at it as 1 of those things where when you’re at the top, they coming for you. They come for you in a lot of different ways,” Woodson said. “Whether it’s the teams you play against getting up for you or whether it’s somebody trying to find some little chink to say ‘They ain’t doing it right. They’re beating people too bad.'”
Woodson thinks regardless of the end result of the investigation, Michigan is talented enough to win the national title on its own merit.
“It’s funny because we played Michigan State and the stuff had come out right before then…We ain’t stealing no signs, man,” Woodson said. “We go in and beat they ass 49-0. What you gon’ say now?”
Woodson stands with Jim Harbaugh as the investigation unfolds.
“I just don’t feel like in this instance with it being as elaborate as a scheme as they say it is,” Woodson said. “I don’t feel like Jim would put himself out there….I just don’t believe Jim would do that.”
