Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes are the No. 1 team in the College Football Playoff poll and may keep that top spot Tuesday night when the ranking is revealed.
The Buckeyes have wins over Notre Dame and Penn State this season, both by 1 score. However, the Buckeyes’ offense has had struggles at points this season and some aren’t quite convinced by them as we enter the final stretch of the regular season.
On Tuesday Day was asked how he believes OSU has improved from Week 1 to now. He thinks the Buckeyes’ situational efficiency has been better, meaning more explosive plays and better play in the red zone.
Here’s what he had to say:
Ryan Day said Ohio State’s situational efficiency — explosive plays, red zone, short yardage, third down, etc. — has improved as the season has continued.
“If we want to win games, we have to win the situations,” he said. “(We’re) not perfect, but it’s been an emphasis.”

Day also noted that there are plenty of places the Buckeyes can improve heading into Week 11 against Michigan State. He thinks the Buckeyes can do better to start games.
Ryan Day said Ohio State needs to start games faster and be more efficient on third down early in games:
“There’s no question we want to be faster. We want to be moving out the gates,” he said.
