Paul Finebaum insists everything Michigan does for remainder of 2023 will be ‘tainted’

No matter the punishment, Michigan football’s season has changed drastically.
The Wolverines are 9-0 and No. 3 in the latest CFP ranking. But as Paul Finebaum noted on Wednesday, what the Wolverines do with the rest of the season is partially irrelevant from. The Wolverines are tainted because of the recent investigation into sign-stealing.
Finebaum explained his point further Wednesday morning on Get Up:
“Everything that happens from here on with [Michigan] is going to be tainted. … If Michigan wins the national championship and Jim Harbaugh is given that trophy, I think the rest of the sports world is going to turn its nose in disgust.”

And can you blame “the sports world?”
Think back to 2017’s Houston Astros. Some fans still despise that group and the organization to this day because of their cheating controversy. Michigan’s alleged business may not be as blatant, but it’s fair to think some CFB fans will have a similar reaction if the Wolverines do run the table.
And they certainly have the talent. Michigan has not played a viable opponent yet, but they’ve been consistently blowing out teams from the jump. We’ll see what they’re truly made of this week against Penn State in Happy Valley.
