During the 2017 season, Pittsburgh Steelers LB Ryan Shazier suffered a devastating back injury while making a tackle against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The former Ohio State star underwent a spine surgery on Dec. 6, and has been in the hospital ever since.
However, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Shazier was discharged from the Pittsburgh-area hospital on Thursday and is making great progress in his recovery:

Whether or not Shazier ever plays football again remains to be seen, but the fact that he’s walking is an encouraging sign for whatever he does in the future.
The Steelers will certainly miss his talent in their linebacking corps next season, but it’s safe to say his teammates and coaches are all hoping for him to make a full recovery from the injury, even if he never puts on a helmet again.
