Michigan rolled into Penn State in Week 11 and left with a statement 24-15 victory over the Nittany Lions.
Top-10 wins on the road are never anything to sneeze out. This time, in particular, it provided a bit of extra emphasis.
On Friday, the Wolverines learned that head coach Jim Harbaugh was being suspended due to the ongoing sign-stealing investigation into the program. Despite that suspension, the players rallied with Sherrone Moore guiding the team to victory as the acting head coach.
As a result of the win, the Wolverines have overtaken the top spot of ESPN’s Football Power Index coming out of Week 11. Michigan is given a 27.8 rating, bumping the team ahead of Ohio State’s 27.2 rating into the No. 1 position.
The Wolverines are now given a 48.1% chance of winning out and likely have another inside track to the College Football Playoff. The biggest remaining task will undoubtedly be The Game in a home matchup against Ohio State.
As for the Big Ten Championship odds, Michigan has been the betting favorite to 3-peat in the conference all season long.
