Ohio State officially has a new cornerbacks coach as the school announced the hiring of veteran assistant Taver Johnson Tuesday.

Johnson, Temple’s defensive coordinator last season, is a native of Cincinnati and has 23 years of coaching experience. This will be his second stop in Columbus, as he coached corners under Jim Tressel from 2007-10.

The school’s release came with these comments from Urban Meyer:

“I am really pleased to have Taver Johnson join our coaching staff. I’ve known Taver for a long time, going back to our days at Notre Dame, and I think he is a terrific coach and person. He’ll do an excellent job coaching our cornerbacks and mentoring the young men in our program.”
