The 2017 season isn’t too far in the rearview mirror, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to start looking ahead to 2018.

Spring practices for many teams start next week, and we’ll get our first looks at a number of the nation’s top squads.

ESPN recently released its first FPI rankings of the year, and it looks like it could be a great year for the Big Ten. Impressively, six Big Ten squads are in the top 25, with five cracking the top 12:

  • No. 4 — Ohio State
  • No. 8 — Penn State
  • No. 10 — Michigan State
  • No. 11 — Michigan
  • No. 12 — Wisconsin
  • No. 25 — Iowa
  • No. 32 — Northwestern
  • No. 48 — Purdue
  • No. 50 — Nebraska
  • No. 59 — Minnesota
  • No. 60 — Maryland
  • No. 66 — Indiana
  • No. 68 — Rutgers
  • No. 70 — Illinois

These are still early rankings, of course, but it looks like the B1G could be the strongest conference in the country this fall.
