Death, taxes and Saquon Barkley doing freakish things on the big stage.
Those all seem to be givens in life.
Of course the former Penn State star delivered a monstrous start to the beginning of the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on Thursday. The 233-pound tailback set the bar with 29 bench press reps (via Sleeper Athletes):
#PennState #NittanyLions RB Saquon Barkley (@saquonb21) did not disappoint the #NFL Scouts today!#NFLCombine Numbers:
Height: 6’0”
Weight: 233lbs
Hand: 9 1/2 inches
Bench Reps: 29 pic.twitter.com/pq27YgvlcD— Sleeper Athletes (@SleeperAthletes) March 1, 2018
That total was tied with former Georgia star Nick Chubb for first among tailbacks at the combine.
The bigger question with Barkley is how fast he’ll run the 40-yard dash. Most guys his size fail to break 4.4 seconds, but Barkley already clocked an unofficial 4.33 seconds last year during Penn State’s offseason workouts.
It seems like Barkley has plenty more jaws to drop in Indianapolis.
