Purdue football lost a huge commitment Tuesday morning after William Nettles decommitted from the program.

Nettles, a 3-star DB in the Class of 2024, only recently committed to Purdue, choosing the Boilermakers over Nebraska on July 4. He hails from Mesquite, Texas, which is just outside of Dallas.

As for where he’s heading next, there could be a few hints on his offer list. SMU, which is based in Dallas and will soon move to the ACC, saw Nettles on an official visit in late June, just before he committed to Purdue. He also holds offers from the likes of USC, Nebraska, Duke, Indiana and Kansas.

Nettles is considered to be the No. 890 prospect in the country, as well as the No. 70 CB and No. 139 player out of Texas.

Purdue’s 2024 class is still fairly strong. The Boilermakers have 22 players committed in the 2024 cycle, including four 4-star talents. Seven of the 22 were recruited as defensive backs.
