“It’s an honor just to come back and watch you all play. To see there’s no names on the back of the jerseys still and understand it’s bigger than the individual, it’s a collective thing. It’s a family,” Oladipo said.
“It’s not going to change. You’re all going to have the same impact with one another,” Oladipo continued. “It’s bigger than basketball. It’s the tool that sets everything up.”
“IU gives you everything you need and more. Trust me. It saved my life coming here — saved my whole life coming to this university,” Oladipo added. “And it can do the same for you all if you all buy into it.”
“Man, make the most of it. Every second. Every inch. Make the most of it,” Oladipo said. “Because it’s just us. Because it’s bigger than you all. It’s bigger than me. It’s bigger than coach [Mike Woodson].”
“This is a different type of monster you’re all wearing on your jersey,” Oladipo continued. “Play like it. When you all wear them candy stripes, there’s no one in America that got the same sweatpants. It’s a reason why. Play like it.”
Oladipo also praised the team for the win over the Cardinals. Indiana improved to 4-1 with the victory on Monday.
