Following his brilliant Ohio State career, RB Beanie Wells played for the Arizona Cardinals from 2009 to 2012.
However, it appears his football career is now catching up to him, according to his comments on his radio show “The Tim and Beanie Show” on Monday.
Per SI.com, Wells explained that he has evidence of a traumatic brain injury and the problems were revealed during a recent MRI:
“At this present moment, I’m OK,” Wells explained on air. “I did have some health issues going on. I went for an MRI scan of my head and saw some things on there that didn’t quite look right. I had some symptoms that led to me going in for that scan.”
Wells went into further discussions about what he was experiencing, saying football is to blame for his symptoms (via ElevenWarriors.com):
“The brain has plaque. I have some plaque separation. And when you have that plaque separation, it shows that you experienced some sort of traumatic brain injury. Obviously that traumatic injury for me came from playing football.”
At the age of 29, hopefully Wells has a long life ahead of him. However, it’s clear football took its toll on the former Buckeye star.
