Joel Klatt believes that Sherrone Moore being on the sidelines rather than Jim Harbaugh this weekend will have a major impact on The Game.
With Harbaugh serving a 3-game suspension, offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Moore is handling coaching duties. He has 3 games under his belt, as he had to serve as head coach in Harbaugh’s first 3-game suspension to start out the year. He picked up wins over Penn State and Maryland in his second stint as head coach.
Klatt talked about how difficult it is to be an offensive line coach, a play caller and a head coach in their own respects. Moore will be doing all 3 on Saturday.
“In particular in a game where it’s just gonna feel different than any other game that you’re apart of,” Klatt said on The Next Round. “On one side, Ryan Day’s handling 2 of those 3 and on the other side, Sherrone Moore is handling 3 of those 3. There’s no way it’s not going to be a factor. Michigan can try to minimize it, Sherrone can try to minimize it all he wants, there’s just no way that this is not a factor.”
While Moore has been head coach 3 times this season, Klatt explained that this game is going to be different than the other 3 games Moore coached in.
“You can say he’s done it 3 times, none of them are gonna feel like this,” Klatt said. “This is like head coaching in a crockpot. It’s just going to be a slow simmer, boil the entire day… You’ve got to be very good and experienced in those situations and he’s replacing a guy in Jim Harbaugh that has coached 4 decades.”
