Ryan Day was particularly irate during The Game over one controversial play. The officials eventually provided an explanation for the final call, but it’s one that did not sit well with Ohio State’s head coach.

In the first half of action, Michigan’s Roman Wilson was credited for a touchdown. However, that play ended with Denzel Burke holding the football in the end zone and a replay review that appeared to show Wilson battling for possession of the football heading into the end zone.

Day was seen visibly upset and adamantly arguing with officials in the aftermath, and he revealed the explanation he was given in his postgame press conference. He said officials told him the play was upheld because it was called a touchdown on the field.

“I was told that it was called on the field a touchdown and because of that it was upheld,” said Day. “I didn’t quite understand how that was, but that’s what they said.”

That touchdown by Wilson proved to be a significant play with Michigan finishing off a 30-24 win over Ohio State. However, even with that play called a touchdown, Kyle McCord and the offense had a chance to score late, but an interception by Rod Moore ended the game.
