Nebraska lost a key member of its 2024 recruiting class on Tuesday evening.

The Cornhuskers suffered a decommitment from 4-star defensive lineman Carlon Jones. He had been committed to Nebraska since June.

“I really wanted to be apart of the change in the program, but unfortunately that couldn’t happen,” Jones said. “I am announcing my decommitment from the University of Nebraska.”

Here’s his announcement:

Jones’ decommitment is a big loss for Nebraska in this cycle. He’s the No. 410 overall player and the No. 45 defensive lineman in the country for the class of 2024, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 62 player from the state of Texas.

Jones attends Bay City High School in Bay City, Texas. He’s listed at 6-foot-2, 285 pounds.

Nebraska did add a commitment from 4-star offensive lineman Grant Brix on Tuesday night, meaning the Huskers still have 26 commitments in the class of 2024. Nebraska’s class now sits at No. 22 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

The Early Signing Period begins on Dec. 20.
