Indiana football is reportedly set to hire James Madison’s Curt Cignetti as its next head coach following the firing of Tom Allen.
Cignetti led James Madison to an 11-1 season after an 8-3 year during his first Sun Belt season with the Dukes. James Madison was ranked for the majority of this season and if they were bowl eligible would likely be heading to a NY6 bowl as the country’s top G5 candidate.
This news stems from a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Sources: Indiana is finalizing a deal to make James Madison coach Curt Cignetti the school’s next coach. He led JMU to an 11-1 season in 2023.

This has the makings of a great hire for Indiana. Cignetti is a former Alabama assistant from 2007-2010 and has served as head coach at IUP, Elon and recently JMU.
Cignetti arrived at JMU in 2018 and never lost more than 3 games in 1 season at James Madison. He was named the Sun Belt Coach of the Year for his handing of James Madison’s 11-1 2023 season.
