Spencer Petras is officially leaving Iowa with the former starting quarterback announcing a transfer commitment Sunday evening. Petras spent 6 seasons with the Hawkeyes, including the 2023 season when he was inactive while recovering from a late-season arm injury in 2022.

On social media, Petras announced a transfer commitment to Utah State in the Mountain West Conference. Petras will have one final year of eligibility to spend with the Aggies.

Petras spent the majority of 2020-22 as the primary starter for the Hawkeyes, a stretch that saw Iowa go 24-11 overall and clinch the B1G West title in 2021. The QB completed 56.7% of his passes in his career with the Hawkeyes for 5,199 yards, 24 touchdowns and 19 interceptions.

Petras injured his arm a season ago in the regular-season finale against Nebraska. He returned to the program and spent 2023 with the Hawkeyes but was not playing to retain his year of eligibility.

Best of luck to Petras as he moves on with his college career.
