Ohio State is set to lose a defensive back to the transfer portal who was considered a 4-star recruit when he signed with the program out of high school.
Ryan Turner, a South Florida native, redshirted after playing in 4 games in 2022 as a true freshman and was credited with a sack against Rutgers. In 2023, he played twice — against Michigan State and Minnesota — totaling 2 tackles against the Golden Gophers.
On X on Sunday, he announced his plans to enter the portal when it opens on Monday. He will have 3 years of eligibility remaining.
“Thank you to the Ohio State coaching staff, my teammates and Buckeye nation for an unforgettable experience that will forever be [a part] of my football/college experiences,” he wrote.
A 4-star recruit according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Turner was ranked the No. 37 cornerback in the country when he signed with the Buckeyes out of the class of 2022. He was also ranked the No. 40 player in the state of Florida.
