Purdue coach Ryan Walters will reportedly have a spot to fill on his offensive staff. According to FootballScoop, Boilermakers tight ends coach Seth Doege is expected to be the new offensive coordinator at Marshall under head coach Charles Huff.

The 2023 season was Doege’s first at Purdue. A former Texas Tech quarterback (2009-12), Doege has bounced between on-field and off-field roles in his coaching career.

Doege joined Purdue after serving as an analyst on Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss staff. Before landing at Ole Miss, he spent the previous 3 seasons at USC.

At USC, Doege began as an offensive quality control analyst for the 2019 and ’20 seasons. He is credited as being one of the Trojans’ key recruiting staffers. In 2021, Doege was promoted to tight ends coach. USC underwent a coaching change in the 2021 season and Doege was not retained by Lincoln Riley.

Prior to his time at USC, Doege spent 3 seasons on staff at Bowling Green (2016-18). He started as a graduate assistant and quickly climbed the ladder to wide receivers coach the following year, adding special teams coordinator duties in 2018.

Walters and his staff are focusing on recruiting and the transfer portal after a 4-8 2023 season.
