First it was Wisconsin. Now, the expected inclement weather is forcing Minnesota to make a change to its spring game.

Unlike their neighbors to the east, the Gophers aren’t canceling their spring game. They are, however, pushing it up a couple days.

Minnesota announced on Tuesday night that instead of hosting its spring game on Saturday afternoon, the annual scrimmage will take place on Thursday night at 6 p.m. CT at TCF Bank Stadium.

“The spring game is a reward for our players and fans, so cancelling it was not an option,” Minnesota coach P.J. Fleck said in a release. “Moving the game from Saturday to Thursday enables us to keep it outside at TCF Bank Stadium so fans can watch our team. It will also provide a safe environment for everyone involved and will allow for our coaching staff to evaluate players in a game-like setting.

“We recognize that some of our fans, especially those with families were planning to come to the game on Saturday, so we will schedule a fan event with our team that allows for them to connect with our student-athletes later this year.”

Minnesota will host all of its previously-scheduled festivities with the exception of postgame autographs. The game is free to attend.

The game can be streamed on BTN2GO live and it’ll be on delay on Big Ten Network at 8 p.m. CT.
