Former Michigan State assistant Chris Kapilovic has landed a new gig. Kapilovic had been coaching the offensive line for the Spartans since 2020. The coach was also the run game coordinator and assistant head coach in East Lansing.
With a new staff taking over at Michigan State, Kapilovic will be moving south to Waco, Texas. The coach is joining the Baylor staff to coach the Bears’ offensive line.

Baylor’s previous OL coach, Eric Mateos, left to take the same job at Arkansas.
Kapilovic spent 4 seasons with the Spartans. During that time, the Spartans were above-average in pass protection. The Spartans finished with 27th in sacks allowed in 2021 and 34th in 2022. In 2023, the team took a slight step back, finishing 69th in the category.
Before coaching the Spartans, Kapilovic also coached the o-line for Colorado, North Carolina, Southern Miss, Missouri State, and Alabama State.
The Bears’ o-line struggled mightily in pass protection, finishing 110th in sacks allowed in 2023. The Bears also struggled in run blocking, finishing 111th in rushing yards per game.
“Chris is one of the best offensive line coaches in the nation and will be a tremendous asset to our program,” head coach Dave Aranda said in a program release. “He is regarded as one of the best in our industry at developing and recruiting offensive linemen, and the opportunity to bring him to Waco is exciting.
