Former Ohio State great retires from NFL

Former Ohio State standout Nick Mangold called it an NFL career Tuesday morning.

Mangold, the Centerville native, retired from the NFL after playing 11 seasons with the New York Jets. The Jets released Mangold in February of 2017, but the seven-time Pro Bowler found no interested teams and sat out the 2017 season.

Mangold started three years at center for the Buckeyes and was a first-team All-Big Ten performer in 2005. He then went on to be selected by the Jets in the first round as the No. 29 pick overall. Mangold started 164 games in 11 years with the Jets.
