USC has flipped former Minnesota commit Jide Abasiri following an official visit to Southern Cal this past week.
Abasiri had been committed to Minnesota since March of this year. The Prior Lake, Minnesota native decommitted from the Golden Gophers program on Dec. 11.
Abasiri is a fringe 3/4-star defensive lineman depending on which recruiting site you prefer to reference. The 6-5, 290 pound defender is considered to be the No. 65 overall DL in the country, as well as the No. 4 prospect out of Minnesota in the Class of 2024.
Here’s Abasiri’s post announcing his commitment to USC from X, formerly Twitter:

USC’s 2024 cycle continues to inch its way up the national rankings. 247Sports places USC’s 2024 class at No. 17 in the composite with pledges from 9 4-star prospects.
Abasiri’s loss is unfortunate for Minnesota, but that doesn’t mean its 2024 class doesn’t have some promising names. The Gophers retain the No. 36 cycle in the country according to 247Sports, including three 4-star prospects.
If that holds, it would be among Fleck’s highest rated classes at Minnesota dating back to 2009 where the Gophers’ class ranked 35th.
