Jeremiah Smith, a 5-star wide receiver and the nation’s No. 1 prospect for 2024, has officially signed his National Letter of Intent. A longtime pledge for Ryan Day’s Ohio State program, Smith confirmed his destination and will sign with the Buckeyes on Wednesday.

Maintaining Smith’s commitment all the way to his signing is a major win for Ohio State’s Brian Hartline. His work with collegiate receivers — including Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave and Marvin Harrison Jr. — speaks for itself, but fending off the Florida schools to get Smith to Columbus is a major move.

Smith is the latest 5-star talent to commit to work with Hartline and the Buckeyes. He joins Brandon Inniss (No. 5 WR in 2023), Emeka Egbuka (No. 1 WR in 2021), Julian Fleming (No. 1 WR in 2020) and Smith-Njigba (No. 5 WR in 2020).

Smith is listed at 6-foot-3 and 198 pounds out of Chaminade-Madonna Prep in Florida and is widely regarded as a generational talent at the position. He dominated in high school with 177 catches and over 3,100 receiving yards and 46 touchdowns in 3 seasons of football.

With a rare blend of size, speed, fluidity and ball skills, Smith has drawn comparisons to former Alabama WR and NFL All-Pro Julio Jones. Smith’s talent level and experience at high school make him a prime candidate to be an immediate contributor as a true freshman in the 2024 season.
