CJ Stroud has cleared concussion protocol and is expected to return to the starting lineup for the Texans this weekend.

The franchise announced that news on Thursday afternoon. Stroud also met with reporters in advance of his return to the field.

“It’s great being back. I missed it,” Stroud said. “Everything that happened … I guess it’s something God wanted me to go thru.”

Stroud has not played since Dec. 10 due to a concussion. Prior to sustaining that injury, Stroud was having one of the best rookie seasons by a quarterback in recent memory.

So far this season, Stroud has thrown for 3,631 yards, 20 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. He has led the Texans into AFC playoff contention despite missing the last couple of weeks. The Texans currently sit at 8-7 and are tied with the Colts and Jaguars for the divisional lead in the AFC South.

Houston will face the Titans at home on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
