A 2016 signee will finish his football career elsewhere.

DE Romeo McKnight announced Sunday via his Twitter account that he plans to transfer from Iowa. He attached a note to the tweet thanking the school and the fans for the past two seasons of support.

A 3-star prospect out of Crystal Lake, Ill. in 2016, McKnight was the No. 42 wide defensive end and the No. 19 player in the state of Illinois for the class of 2016, according to the 247Sports Composite. McKnight redshirted his first year on campus and did not see the field last season. He noted that “a long journey of injuries and recovery” factored into his decision to transfer.
