Denzel Burke is not done yet at Ohio State, and he delivered a major announcement for the Buckeyes and fans everywhere on Wednesday!

The team leader in pass breakups during the 2023 season, Burke is the leading cover man for Ohio State’s secondary. A key prospect for the 2024 NFL Draft, Burke confirmed that he will return to Columbus to deliver one more season with the program.

“This was a hard decision but I’ve decided to return for my last year,” Burke announced on social media. “There’s no rush for me to go to the league. I want to graduate and keep developing into an elite corner. I’m chasing greatness and my own legacy as a corner. I wanna spend this last year with my brothers and win a championship. Go Bucks!”

During the 2023 season, Burke was Ohio State’s leader with 9 pass breakups and also recorded 24 tackles, 3 tackles for loss and an interception. He returns to the program with 26 career pass breakups, 2 interceptions and 93 total tackles as a veteran leader entering 2024.

Impact for the Buckeyes

Already, Ohio State has put together a solid core of defensive pieces heading into the 2024 season. In the secondary, Burke will be rejoined by veteran safety Lathan Ransom who confirmed he will be back.

On the defensive line, Tyleik Williams and Ty Hamilton will also return to provide a stout presence on the interior. There are still some key pieces to round out their decisions for 2024, but Jim Knowles should have a strong group to work with either way.
