Now His Airness is getting into football.

Michigan, which just agreed to switch from Adidas to Nike this offseason, will be represented by Air Jordan. Michael Jordan himself announced the news in this tweet tonight.

As M.J. said, Michigan will be Air Jordan’s first ever football team. The Wolverines signed a record deal with Nike for $169 million over 15 years in the wake of Jim Harbaugh’s hiring.

The Wolverine football and basketball teams will now wear the Jumpman while the rest of Michigan athletics will have the Nike swoosh.

According to ESPN sports business reporter Darren Rovell, the move was entirely Jordan’s call. Literally.

Harbaugh tweeted his excitement over the official announcement.

There are indeed some big plans for the Big House.
