Former Nebraska QB Patrick O’Brien announces transfer destination

Former Nebraska QB Patrick O’Brien is heading west to finish his college football career.

O’Brien announced on his Twitter account Friday that he will be transferring to Colorado State.

Rated the No. 10 pro-style quarterback of the 2016 class and a 4-star recruit by 247Sports Composite, O’Brien, from San Juan Capistrano, Calif., committed to the Huskers in May of 2015 before enrolling in January. At Nebraska, O’Brien was 18-of-30 as a passer in his brief career, appearing three times in mop-up duty last season. He threw for 192 yards and an interception.

O’Brien announced his plans to transfer in April, saying he wasn’t a fit in the offensive system run by new head coach Scott Frost. The Huskers are left with two scholarship quarterbacks on the roster following O’Brien’s transfer.
