Caitlin Clark leads Iowa to win over Illinois, inches closer to NCAA all-time scoring record
Caitlin Clark scored 24 points and recorded a triple-double as Iowa defeated Illinois 101-85 on Sunday afternoon.
Clark is now 51 points away from breaking the NCAA’s all-time scoring record for men’s or women’s college basketball. With that many points still to go, it seems likely Clark will break the overall NCAA record on March 3 in Iowa’s regular-season finale against Ohio State — as opposed to Iowa’s next game against Minnesota on Wednesday.
Clark, as talented a scorer as she is, has not scored 50 points in a game yet this season. Her season-high is 49, which she accomplished last week against Michigan.
In addition to Clark’s 24 points, she also pitched in a team-leading 15 rebounds and 10 assists. This was the 5th triple-double of Clark’s season.
Here are some highlights from Clark’s effort:

Iowa is now 13-3 in Big Ten play, 2 games behind Ohio State for the top spot in the regular season standings. The Buckeyes can clinch the regular season crown if they win their next 2 games prior to facing Iowa in the regular season finale on March 3.
ESPN’s College GameDay will be in attendance at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on March 3 for Clark’s potential record-breaking performance. It will also be a shot at redemption for Iowa, as the Hawkeyes lost to Ohio State in Columbus earlier this year.
