Jim Harbaugh will have at least one of his former Michigan players during his first season with the Los Angeles Chargers!
During Friday night’s NFL Draft coverage, a pair of Wolverine defenders were drafted in the 2nd round. Those players were defensive tackle Kris Jenkins and defensive back Mike Sainristil, but neither wound up with the Chargers.
In the 3rd round, the Chargers finally landed a Michigan player, going with linebacker Junior Colson at the 69th overall pick. Colson is the 4th Michigan player off the board so far.

Los Angeles began the draft by selecting Notre Dame offensive lineman Joe Alt with the 5th overall pick and grabbed Georgia wide receiver Ladd McConkey with its 2nd-round pick. Now, Harbaugh has one of the players from his national title-winning squad in the form of Colson, a tackling machine in the middle of the defense.
It’s possible (and likely) the Chargers are not finished targeting former Wolverines in the draft. It has been heavily reported and speculated leading up to the draft that Harbaugh wants Blake Corum, his star running back, in the draft, and it will be interesting to see if Los Angeles can make that happen.
