Sherrone Moore reveals his favorite play calls from 2023 season

Sherrone Moore is preparing for his first season leading Michigan after replacing Jim Harbaugh. But first, he sat down with Joel Klatt in a full-length interview to discuss a wide array of topics.
The former assistant for the Wolverines who climbed the ranks under Harbaugh, Moore solidified his spot as the future leader for the program as the offensive coordinator and acting head coach throughout 2023. That role featured some iconic play calls from Moore with Klatt asking about his favorite from the national title run.
Moore admits it’s hard to pick, but one of his favorites includes a halfback pass called during the Ohio State game that involved Donovan Edwards. Other than that play call in The Game, Moore referenced a couple of touchdown-scoring plays in the Rose Bowl against Alabama.
“The 4th-and-2 (vs. Alabama) was good. Probably the play-action on the goal line to Roman (Wilson) to tie the game up in regulation,” said Moore. “That was probably my favorite.
“The 2nd favorite would be the first touchdown to Blake (Corum), the mesh when we threw it out of the backfield to him. That’s something the whole team knew was going to get called at that moment. We talked about if the ball gets inside the 10, it’s coming. You can call it. JJ, you can call it… Everybody knew.”
It’s hard to find someone who called a better game than Moore in 2023, even including the Penn State game when the Wolverines totally abandoned the passing game. During his interview with Klatt, Moore admitted that wasn’t his favorite game plan, but he was willing to do whatever it took to win the game.
Now, fans will get to see how Michigan looks under Moore this fall as the Wolverines try and defend their crown. It will be a unique season for many reasons, but Moore was the clear choice leading the program forward.
