Zach Edey soars to top of Rookie of the Year odds after impressive Summer League performance
Zach Edey’s impressive Summer League debut has led to a major shakeup in the betting odds for NBA Rookie of the Year.
Edey put up 14 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks in his Utah Summer League debut on Monday night. The performance was enough to rocket Edey up to +600 in FanDuel’s Rookie of the Year odds, making him the favorite for that award.
Here are some highlights from Edey’s big night:

Edey is now the favorite over Zacchaire Risacher (+750) and Alex Sarr (+700) who were the top 2 picks in the 2024 NBA Draft. Sarr was the favorite at +400 on bet365 following the draft late last month.

GET THE APPThis is the second major shift in Edey’s Rookie of the Year odds over the past few weeks. At BetMGM, Edey opened at +2500 to take home that honor but those odds quickly moved to +1200 after Edey became a popular bet.
Edey was a surprise pick by Memphis at No. 9 overall, but their belief in him should give bettors some confidence that he will have an opportunity to earn significant minutes. If Edey’s production looks anything close to what it did at Purdue — which is a major question mark — then he should have a great chance to win Rookie of the Year.
It certainly helps that there’s no other obvious frontrunner for Rookie of the Year in this class. Sarr and Risacher are both young international players who may not have huge offensive roles right away. Dalton Knecht and Reed Sheppard, who both project to be role players this season for their respective teams, round out the top-5 in FanDuel’s odds.
Edey did not play for Memphis on Tuesday night, but he could suit up against the Thunder on Wednesday night in Salt Lake City. Edey is also expected to play in the Vegas Summer League, which begins on Friday.
