Even though Ohio State isn’t playing in Week 0 of the college football season, the Buckeyes are still making headlines after getting a commitment from an elite offensive lineman.

Jayvon McFadden, a 4-star interior offensive lineman in the 2025 class, announced on social media on Saturday that he will be playing his college football in Columbus.

McFadden, hailing from Washington DC, chose the Buckeyes over Colorado, Maryland, and South Carolina. He plays left tackle at Upper Marlboro (Md.) Riverdale Baptist, but the Buckeyes are recruiting him with the potential of playing several spots for Ohio State. He has also played guard for Riverdale Baptist. He is currently ranked as the No. 25 interior lineman in the country, according to the industry-generated 247 Composite, while also being the No. 11 overall player in the state of Maryland.

The addition of McFadden only adds to the elite recruiting class that Ohio State has put together thus far. According to 247Sports, the Buckeyes have the No. 1 recruiting class, with 25 players now committed in the 2025 class. Right behind Ohio State is Alabama and LSU.

Ohio State enters this season ranked No. 2 in the country and is one of the favorites to win both the Big Ten Championship and the national title. The Buckeyes get the season started on Aug. 31 as they host Akron.
