Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are preparing for the Nebraska Cornhuskers after both teams flashed — particularly on offense — in Week 1 of the college football season.

While nobody was surprised to see Colorado quarterback and projected first-round NFL Draft pick Shedeur Sanders light it up through the air with 445 passing yards and 4 touchdowns in the Buffs win over North Dakota State, the bigger story of the weekend may have come out of Lincoln.

True freshman QB Dylan Raiola — who was ranked as the No. 3 QB in the country by the 247 Sports Composite for 2024 — looked as advertised in Nebraska’s 40-7 win over UTEP.

As Sanders and Colorado prepare to head to Nebraska on Saturday night in one of the most anticipated games of the Week 2 slate, the Buffaloes head coach met with the media and made a point to say how impressed he was with Raiola in his collegiate debut.

“The kid made some darn good throws, some pretty good plays” Sanders said. “They did some consistent things that we knew they would do within their offense. A phenomenal game, it started out back and forth a little bit, but they went ahead and did what he needed to do. But I love what he showed in his first college game ever. I love what he showed.”

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound QB looked poised and in complete control of the Cornhuskers’ offense, finishing the game 19-0f-28 for 238 yards and 2 touchdowns and an impressive quarterback rating of 168.9.

The Buffaloes and Cornhuskers kickoff at 7:30 P.M. ET on Saturday night. The game can be viewed on NBC.
