Aidan Chiles is starting to find his groove with Michigan State’s offense, and he is in the process of what could become his coming out party in Week 2.
After struggling in his first career start in Week 1, Chiles entered Saturday’s game vs. Maryland looking to make a statement. Unfortunately, things took a negative turn with a bad interception that led to a Terp touchdown, but he has since rallied.
Chiles responded to the mistake by throwing his 2nd touchdown of the first half. Remarkably, it came on a 2nd-and-23 play after a penalty put the Spartans behind the sticks.
Chiles stood tall in the pocket just moments before the pressure arrived and delivered a strike, finding Jaron Glover for the 34-yard score with a pass that fell right into the basket.

Even with the interception, Chiles has looked more at ease and in rhythm in his 2nd start, even with this one coming on the road. He is 8-for-14 throwing the ball for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns with the interception, and his ability to push the ball down the field with accuracy has to excite Spartan fans.
Regardless of the growing pains that may crop up (including his 2-interception debut without a passing touchdown), it sure looks like Jonathan Smith has the leader for his offense to build around.
