Former All-American at Ohio State retiring from NFL after 4 seasons

Former All-American at Ohio State Jack Mewhort is ending his professional football career before his 27th birthday. After four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, Mewhort has decided to hang up his cleats.
“I would like to thank the Irsay family and the entire Colts organization for giving me the opportunity to live a childhood dream,” Mewhort said in a team release. “The fans and the city of Indianapolis have treated me like one of their own, and I am forever grateful. Wearing the Horseshoe was one of the biggest honors I have ever known, and I will always bleed blue. Go Colts!”
An ESPN All-American his senior season at OSU, Mewhort was drafted by the Colts with the No. 59 overall pick in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Mewhort started 14 games in his rookie season and all 16 games the following year. He missed some time due to knee injuries in 2016 and 2017. Despite the injuries, Mewhort appeared to be planning on playing in 2018, as he re-signed with Indianapolis in March.
