Jim Harbaugh appeared on the Dan Patrick Show on Tuesday afternoon, a couple days after his Los Angeles Chargers started the year with a win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
While the future certainly looks exciting for Harbaugh, Patrick asked some questions about his recent past. More specifically, Patrick wanted to know if the evolving college football landscape contributed to Harbaugh’s decision to leave Ann Arbor.
Harbaugh said he’s in favor of the changes that have happened in recent years (and are continuing to happen). Rather, Harbaugh said his decision to leave Michigan had more to do with wanting to challenge himself at the highest level.
“The other piece of the puzzle is, this is the highest level,” Harbaugh said. “I want to see if I measure up. If I can come into this tremendous organization and add value. Yeah, that’s a piece of it too. I love the challenge. This league, as you know … it’s really hard to get a win and it’s really special to win a championship. I haven’t done it.”
Here’s a segment of Harbaugh’s conversation with Patrick discussing his choice to leave for the NFL:

Harbaugh’s Chargers beat the Raiders 22-10 in Week 1. It was a great start for the organization on all fronts as they look to return to the postseason in 2024-25.
The Chargers will face the Carolina Panthers on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
